During the COVID lockdowns, a need for a space where people could get together and share ideas, knowledge, stories and skills – reducing social isolation and improving wellbeing – was identified.
Following discussions with Scottish Outdoor Education Centres, which operates the Belmont Centre, MACDT has secured the use of one of the buildings at Belmont for a Community Shed.
The Community Shed is a warm and welcoming creative space (based on the model initiated by the Men’s Shed movement), where people can come together to meet and socialise.
We have a well-equipped wood workshop where you can make anything from bird boxes to benches, repair cherished items that just need a bit of TLC or repurpose items and give them a whole new lease of life!
And because this project is community-led, whatever we do is up to you!
We have funding to run a variety of events, workshops and classes in the shed so just get in touch and tell us what you’d like to try. You can contact us by emailing shed@meigleardler.com or through our Facebook page.
