As part of efforts to improve community resilience, MACDT established a volunteer Resilience Team that supports local households and businesses when dealing with flooding events.
The Resilience Team also led on our Community Flood Resilience Project which involved collaborative engagement with local residents, farmers, landowners and government to co-design a comprehensive strategy for flood reduction and enhanced resilience in the area.
The Meigle and Ardler Resilience Emergency Plan provides a framework for responding to the most likely identified local issues or disruptions to normal living conditions and the safety of residents, as well as other unspecified community emergencies.
In addition, toolkits and online interactive maps have been produced to enable residents, businesses and landowners to view their properties, assess their own preparedness and put in place suitable mitigations to reduce and prevent flooding in the short and long-term.
Can you help?
Would you like to support your community to be safer, more resilient and better able to prepare for, respond to and then recover from emergencies? Then we would love to hear from you. There are regular training and information sessions and personal protective equipment is provided.
