The villages of Meigle and Ardler have a rich cultural heritage, although with contrasting histories - Meigle is one of the oldest villages in Scotland and an ancient power centre of the Picts, while Ardler is a 19th century planned village with stories to tell of the early industrial revolution and the coming of the railways.
Our ‘Walk Through Time’ project captures some of this heritage, sharing compelling stories from the local area using maps and QR codes so that people using the MAC Trail will be able to read and hear about the people and events that have shaped the landscape over centuries.
Whether you're interested in agriculture and industry, transport and travel, settlements, people, sport and leisure, myths and legends or all of these, our volunteers have researched and collated swathes of historical information that is here for you to explore.
