The villages of Meigle and Ardler have a rich cultural heritage although somewhat contrasting histories - Meigle is one of the oldest villages in Scotland and an ancient power centre of the Picts, while Ardler is a 19th century planned village with stories to tell of the early industrial revolution and the coming of the railways.
Our ‘Walk Through Time’ project captures some of this heritage, sharing compelling stories from the local area and using interactive maps and QR codes so that people using the MAC Trail will be able to hear and read about the people and events that have shaped the landscape over centuries.
Whether you're interested in agriculture and industry, transport and travel, settlements, people, sport and leisure, myths and legends or all of these, our volunteers have researched and collated swathes of historical records that are collated here for you to explore.
